Dr. Michelle C. Reece, is an Associate Professor at Western Kentucky University (WKU) in Bowling Green Kentucky. Dr. Reece is a product of the Barbados education system first attending St Mark’s Primary School, the St. Michael’s School and the Lodge School. Dr Reece completed her baccalaureate degree from Andrews University (Michigan), Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology, Graduate Certification in Health Care Administration and Planning from Tennessee State University and a doctorate in Public Health with an emphasis in Community and Behavioral Health from East Tennessee State University.
Dr. Reece has made significant contributions to the field of public health. Her academic research focuses on four key areas: global health equity and minority health (including refugee and immigrant health), men’s health, particularly in the realm of prostate cancer education, healthcare administration, and community health education. Her career has been marked by a commitment to research, education, and advocacy aimed at improving the lives of minority and underserved groups, and individuals affected by prostate cancer. Some of her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. She has been invited to give speeches and professional presentations at local, national, and international scientific conferences. Dr. Reece is actively involved in several community-based initiatives aimed at raising awareness and promoting early detection of prostate cancer and is currently preparing to embark on a nationwide prostate cancer awareness campaign in Barbados.
Dr Reece previously served as the Cochair of the Southeastern Health Equity Council Southeastern Health Equity Council (SHEC); one of ten regional health equity councils formed to achieve health equity in the U.S. Dr. Reece’s work has left an indelible mark on the field of public health.
